Cornops aquaticum is considered a beneficial species because it feeds on aquatic weeds. It seems to prefer the water hyacinth Eichhornia azurea.
Oligophagous. Commelina sp., Reussian sp. Zebrina sp, Echinodorus sp., Eleocharis sp., water hyacinths (Eichhornia azerea, Eichhornia crassipes, Pontederia cordata).
