Festella festae | 0:01 | Arjan Boonman | 2022-10-12 | 21:00 | Israel | Dresdner Park (near Tel Aviv-Yafo), Tel Aviv District | 30 | calling song | Freshly captured specimens recorded in aquarium (no foam lining) using calibration microphone and 375 kHz sampling frequency, 16 bits. Two individuals calling at 18 cm from microphone. Voltage 0.7; 0.225 volt~94dB SPL with L&D calibrator---> 94+20*log(0.7/0.225)=116.7 dB SPL at 18 cm. Surprisingly loud for having no resonance organs. Sound is produced with "saddle". Main energy between 35 and 110 kHz. Note that only this frequency spectrum is correct because the instrumentation microphone has a linear frequency response. Only apparent with 375kHz are some extreme short impulses: 30 MICROseconds, among the shortest impulses animals are known to produce: eg dolphins, rousettus bats (60 microseconds).
