Gender, form, and etymology

Etymology:

Named after the type locality. The Yuba Dam was built from 1902 to 1917 and men working on the Dam called it the U. B. Dam: they were dammed if they worked and dammed if they didn’t. The phonetic sound of the reservoir’s name was eventually spelled Yuba. In 1969 the area became a Utah state park.
