Etymology:

Named after Greg R. Ballmer who collected the first specimens, and who has been a tireless advocate for the protection of the Colton Sand Dunes. His successful petitioning for Federal endangered species status of the Delhi Sands flower-loving fly (Rhaphiomidas terminates abdominalis) has also helped protect A. ballmeri’s type locality, where this Jerusalem cricket species reaches its highest density.
