Gender, form, and etymology

Etymology:

The word “tecuani,” means jaguar, ocelot, or tiger in Nahuatl. The name reflects both the coloration pattern of the hind femora (which are yellow or orange with black stripes) and the type locality of this species, which is in the Sierra Tecuani in the Mexican state of Guerrero.
