Gender, form, and etymology
Etymology:
The generic epithet combines the ancient Greek word ‘’karcharo’’ meaning “shark’’ and the suffix “tettix” referring to the Ancient Greek word for grasshopper. The name alludes to the structure of the upper margin of the pronotum resembling a shark’s dorsal fin.
