Gender, form, and etymology
Etymology:
The name is composed of Latin speculo, meaning glass or ‘looking glass’, due to the exceptional level of transparency compared to other Phlugidini genera, allowing us to observe internal anatomy; and Phlugis, named after the type genus of the tribe Phlugidini.
