Descendants and synonyms

Gender, form, and etymology

Etymology:

The specific epithet comes from the Tupi indigenous language and means “pointy stone”. From the words “itá” (stone) and “atîaî” (pointy). Itatiaia is also the name of the oldest national park of Brazil, where the species was found.
