Etymology:

The genus name is composed of the prefix “archaeo-“, meaning “ancient” and –“armatus”, which is the perfect passive participle of the Latin verb armō, meaning “armed, equipped” The genus name is of masculine gender and refers to the anterior pronotal spine observed in this genus.
