Gender, form, and etymology
Etymology:
Derived from the Spanish word ‘‘grillo’’. In Ecuador most Orthoptera are commonly referred to as ‘‘grillos’’ (crickets). The term is also used to describe a person who seeks attention and exhibits behavior similar to that of the species.
