Gender, form, and etymology

Etymology:

The genus is named Notredamia for two reasons: 1) the hump on the median carina of the pronotum, composed of fused promedial and first metamedial projections, the name being a metaphor for the main character of Victor Hugo’s novel from 1831 “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame”, and 2) in honor of the recently damaged Roman Catholic Medieval Cathedral in the center of Paris, Notre-Dame.
