Gender, form, and etymology

Etymology:

The specific epithet umoja is Swahili for "unity" and the name of an all-female village founded on principles of women's rights. This species is named to honor two inspiring and resilient South African women, Susan Swart and Brona Nomangesi Magwa, dear friends whose love and support made the author's time in South Africa a deeply personal, unforgettable experience.
