Gender, form, and etymology
Etymology:

Derived from Metrypus Saussure, 1878 (= Metrypa Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1873, there from Greek μή = not and τρυπάω = to bore or pierce through, probably relating to the absence ot tibial ears in that genus, a synonym of Tafalisca Walker, 1869).
