Etymology:
From the Greek name Elektra, in Greek mythology one of the seven Pleiades (daughters of Pleione and Atlas). Elektra is sister to Maia, a reference to the morphological similarity of H. electra and H. maia. The name Elektra is derived from elektron meaning ‘amber’ and related to elektros meaning ‘shining, bright’, and is applied here in reference to the bright orange colour of this species.
