Gender, form, and etymology

Etymology:

Named after Hatuey (birth date unknown, murdered by fire at stake in 1512), the well-known Taino cacique. He was the first rebel native to America and coincidently, he lived in the same two islands where this species occurs: Cuba and Hispaniola.
