Etymology:
Ibityraboia comes from the Brazilian indigenous language Tupi: Ibityra [ybytyra] = hill, mountain + boia [îyboîa] = jibóia, red-tailed boa (Boa constrictor), in reference to the Serra da Jiboia (Boa constrictor mountain). The epithet is a homage to the type locality of this new katydid.
